Just google for online tips and instructive videos.-The author repeats the exact same very basic points multiple times.The info in this thin book literally could have been complied in a pamphlet.-Still, there were none of the detailed descriptions I expected from a “bible”. No illustrations showing how to groom a plant or take the stem down.-The author gives tips that are common sense and not unique to African Violets. For example, when buying, “choose a healthy looking plant”.-He spends multiple pages listing the different types of African Violets in existence that he was “unable to get permission to print pictures of” as of publication. Actually seeing all the different types and colors would be somewhat interesting to me, but just reading hundreds of names without an accompanying photo? Why?-The actual instruction (which is minimal) is not useful. For example, the author might list two issues that a grower could encounter, and how to address each of them. Then, he might say if another (third) thing happens, “just do the above”. What? Which one? So it’s confusing. Not because the subject matter is complicated (it’s not), but because the book is just poorly written.-It’s evident the book had no editor, but desperately needed one. From misspellings to using the wrong word to leaving a word out to poor grammar and even worse punctuation...it was just hard to follow.
